First Timer in Singapore

Travelling is one of my hobby. I hope I can travel around the world (but must saving money first). So last year I've an opportunity to go to Singapore. Hope I can share my journey there :)

I'll share bout my journey to Singapore last Dec. I went there with my family (w/out my lil sis T_T) and my boyfriend too. Stayed there for 4D and 3N.

For anyone who first time travelling or travelling to Singapore, here are couples tips for you :)

Okay first to prepare when u travelling overseas is the ticket. If u can find cheap ticket u'll have to book it 6 months before at least. I bought Air Asia ticket at June  for all the cabin and luggage its around 500.000 rupiahs each person (so cheap isn't it lol).
The most important when booking the flight is the baggage. Some airplane include the baggage 20kg (Lion Air), but some of them no (Air Asia). You have to choose your own baggage (10-30kgs). But careful dont overload it, you may pay for overweight, and it will be more expennsive. Cabin is only 7 kgs.

The second important issue is hotel. Of course it's really hard to find hotels or apartmens during peak season at Dec, so i tried to book hotel online via website www.booking.com (u can try if u want, there's many hotels in the website ^^) . There's also www.agoda.com if you want another option for hotels. If you want to stay at apartments you can try Lucky Plaza apartment. From several suggest I think it's quite good. The place near Orchard and maybe cheap too.

After finished all of them is make sure you check your passport validity. It must be 6 months before you valid periode to travel overseas. So if your passport almost expired, maybe you should get the new one :)

You also have to prepare your money ( in this case SGD -- Singapore Dollar). Check rates at bank or money changer before exchange your money. Sometimes is better to exchange in Singapore, but of course for prepare you still have to bring some SGD to Singapore.

After check all of them you're ready to travel!!

As you travelling tp Singapore, it be better for you to check place, food, souvenirs, tourist object, and anythings about Singapore.

As Singapore is very arranged well about public and mass transportation, they already used a smart card for all bus and MRT there. It called EZ-Link. It's a stored card that allowed you to used it repeatedly by top up money into the card. Several store is also can accept this card, like Seven Eleven (7 11) and Mc Donalds. Some taxi also can accept this card. You will see this picture at the taxi whose accept this card for payment.

To buy this card, you need about SGD 30, and you also get the balance. But if you dont want to buy this card, you can used a single trip card which you can buy in the ticket machines in every MRT station. I recommeded you to buy it if you often come to Singapore.
I also put this MRT Map for you :)

Here is I write several places you can visit if travelling to Singapore :

1. Orchard

As many of you know, Orchard is well know for its shopping mall. Many shopping mall is in a row. As you can see there're Takashimaya, ION, Lucky Plaza, TANGS, Paragon, Far East, Plaza Singapura, etc. You can walk all day long to visit all of them. Sometimes they give many discount, especially in June or December.

Here couple of photos I took at Orchard.

2. Sentosa island and Universal Studio Singapore (USS)

This one is the most favorite place to visit. You can find Universal Studio and Casino here. To reach the Sentosa Island, you can ride the monorail from Vivo City (Outram Park MRT Station) and paid SGD 3 to take the monorail. There are many loops termination for you. You can visit this web for further info. http://www.sentosa.com.sg/en/attractions/resorts-world-at-sentosa/universal-studios-singapore/

If you want to play at Universal Stuido, it'll be better if you buy a ticket online first for the website above. It can minimize your possibility runs out of ticket. The admission fee is SDG 66 for adult. There's also express line for you to avoid the long aueue, The express line costs SGD 30.

In Sentosa, many place you can visit, like in Imbiah Station you can play Luge and Sky Ride there. There's also have the Merlion Statue ( more big than in the Fullerton Rd). You can check o=all at the USS official website.

Here some photo I took.

3. Bugis Junction and Bugis Market

These place can be fun for every shopaholic! You can find a shopping mall and a market with cheap price. Bugis Junction and Bugis Market are across each others, which means can be access just accross the street.
If you want to looking branded items, you can take a look at Bugis Junction. You can find many restaurant like Yoshinoya, Old Chang Kee, Itacho Sushi, Crystal Jade My Bread, etc. You can also find many fashion store like Charles & Keith (this one are cheaper than in Jakarta), GUESS, Bossini, Etude House, Cotton On, etc. This mall is like semi outdoor mall because all the window and roof is made of glass so we can see outside too.

Bugis Market is opposite the Bugis Junction, which had a different location and store. If you want buy items with cheap price, this is the place. Many korean fashion like dress, bags, shirt you can found in most store. Many of them can also be bargain as well :) For an example, you can buy 3 woman wallets for just SGD 10!! SO cheap isn't it? So ready to shopping!!?

You can reach both place by bus or MRT. If you used MRT you can stop at Bugis of course..You can used the Grren Line MRT..*You can take a look at MRT Map I gave you before.

4. Chinatown

Love to eat?? This is the right place to go. To reach this place you can take MRT (the purple line) near Clarke Quay and stop directly at Chinatown MRT Station. Just go out from the MRT Station, you can find many place to eat :D You can visit People's Park which is the most famous place at Chinatown that pffer you many item with cheap prices! At Ground level you can find many places to eat. Which has a semi food court with also cheap price. I ordered Pecking Duck Noodles for just about SGD 3!

People's Park is an interesting mix of stores selling traditional Chinese goods and cheap modern items - clocks, electronics, jewelry, and textiles jostle alongside religious icons, Chinese herbs, and traditional Chinese food. For many locals, People's Park is a repository for old Singapore nostalgia through stores selling old photos and Chinatown memorabilia. Travel agents and massage parlors also call People's Park Complex home

Beside the People's Park you can also visit the Chinatown Point. You won't miss this store, a series of shops known collectively as the Singapore Handicraft Centre selling a wide range of handicrafts, including (but not limited to) porcelain, bronze artifacts, wood carvings, paintings, antique furniture, Chinese musical instruments, and traditional embroidery.

5. Marina Bay

Marina Bay is one of two intergrated resort that opened at 2010. As its famous for its design (its designed like ship at the top of the buliding) Its also have a casino, same like at Resort World Sentosa (you have to dress properly to get in). For further info you can see this official website. http://www.marina-bay.sg/

6. Clarke Quay

Welcome to the bar! Yeah Clarke Quay is famous of its bar and lounge. Near the river, along the way you can see many bar and cafe. All the cafe and bar will be crowded at night around 7 or 8 pm till midnite. If you want to see and walking around at night, this place is nice for its view.

As I stayed at Balestier Rd ( Value Hotel Thompson), I want to recommend nice restaurant called FOUNDER. It's very famous for its BAKUT TEH. If you visit Singapore, you should spend your time visit this place. Guarantee you wont regret it! :)

Actually there's many places you can see at Singapore, like Jurong Bird Park, Safari Nights, etc, but I cant write it all in here. You can find all of them at this website . http://www.yoursingapore.com/content/traveller/en/experience.html

But I hope my write can be useful to all of you if you want to travel to Singapore for the first time.
